The remaining part of Kilnwick Hall, formerly the seat of the Grimston family. Hall, formerly the seat of the Grimston family. Offices, now house. Early C17, with mid C18 rear parallel range to east wing. Red brick in English bond, stone slate roofs. L-shaped range of 2 storeys and attics with 5 bays to south wing and 4 bays to east wing. Quarter-round moulded plinth. Front elevation: ground floor: cross-mullion windows throughout, originally with hollow-chamfered rubbed bricks to mullions and transom, now made up into plain chamfers with cement. Some original casements survive, with square quarries in lead cames and original ironwork, particularly to the east range. The east range also has plank and muntin panelled doors under 4-centred arches to the extreme right and left. Similar blocked door in approximately central position to south range. First floor: east range: four 2-pane sashes under segmental brick arches. South range: scattered fenestration: 2-pane sliding sashes, 6-pane sash, and C20 window with top-opening lights. Dentilled brick eaves cornice, hipped roof, plain close verges. Axial stack to each range, each with a central square flue flanked by diagonally-set flues. Interior: east range, first floor east end has room with a deep coved ceiling and a centre rose. South range has 2 first-floor rooms lined with early C18 plank and muntin panelling. This building formerly housed the offices to Kilnwick Hall, which was demolished 1951.
