House and screen wall. c1800. Red brick in Flemish bond, stone dressings,
slate roofs. 3 storeys, 5 bays in symmetrical elevation; centre bay breaks
forward slightly to double-leaf glazed and panelled door with overlight in
Doric doorcase under segmental pediment. To right and left are French
windows with glazing bars under cambered channelled wedge lintels with
fluted projecting keyblocks. First-floor band. First floor: sash with
glazing bars over door and to 2 bays to right; to left, two 2-light
casements with overlights. All under similar wedge lintels. Second floor:
five 2-light casements with glazing bars under similar wedge lintels. Eaves
cornice and blocking course, end stacks. To left is a C20 conservatory
against a ramped coped screen wall ending in a square coped pier. To right
is a C19 extension in similar character to the house: central projection
under pediment, and three 2-light unequal sashes with sills under cambered
channelled wedge lintels with projecting fluted keyblocks. Band and corner
pilasters with urns; ramped parapet. Interior: a number of interior
features survive including several panelled doors and a cut-string stair
with scrolled tread ends, cast-iron balusters with a floral motif, and a
slender moulded handrail. The back stairs are also of good quality with
turned and fluted balusters, stick balusters to the upper flight, and a
ramped handrail.
