4/79 Old Rectory -
GV II
Rectory. Circa 1870. Polychrome Gothic style. White brick with chequered red and black brick dressings. Plain tile roof. Large L-plan building of 2 storeys, each elevation with groups of lancets with black, white and red brick gauged arches. Continuous chequered bands. Front has 2 gable ends, the right one with 4 1st floor lancets and 3 on ground floor. Door with original planks and chamfered frame. Gablet on right with 2 blind lancets. 1½ storey outbuilding to front right, probably a dairy, with twin lancets and plank doors. To rear, the Rectory has a large 2-bay wing on right, its left side with 4 lancets on each floor and its right side with a canted lancet bay on ground floor and triple lancets on upper floor. All windows with original metal frame casements. Interior retains chamfered door arches and frames and original dog-leg staircase. Included for group value.
