House, at one time 3 or more dwellings. Late C17, restored 1935-8 for Mrs. Berg and c.1960 by W. Weir for the National Trust. Timber frame on brick base, roughcast. Steeply pitched thatched roof. 5 bay lobby entry with rear outshut and I bay gable end additions. 2 storeys with 1 storey additions. Ground floor: plinth is higher and stepped to left, central steps up to 2 plank doors, 1 blocked, simple architraves, hipped tiled hood on carved brackets. 3 light leaded flush frame casements, that to left of entrances canted out on brackets, hoodboards to right with 2 light flush frame timber glazing bar casements to right bay and addition. First floor: central 2 light lattice casement with date 1687 above and Sun Fire Insurance Marker below, to right a small pane horizontal sliding sash, elsewhere 3 light lattice casements. Central cross axial ridge stack. 1 bay additions have separate lower gables. Right end ground floor weatherboarding, small casements, exposed plates and purlins. Left end weatherboarded with an attic casement. To rear a catslide roof to near ground level over a continuous lean-to outshut, 2 dormers with tiles below sills, right bay addition has a stack and pantiles to rear. Interior not inspected.
