Details
NORTON WAY SOUTH 1. 5255 (west side) Nos 355 to 361 (odd) TL 23 SW 1/83 II GV 2. 1905 by B Parker and R Unwin. Built for Ebenezer Howard who lived at No 359 until 1910. Terrace of 4 cottages with varied plan and building line, which acted as a prototype for later housing in the Garden City. One and a half storeys and dormers. Irregular facade and fenestration with slightly projecting end bays. Tiled roof with hips, gables and swept eaves. Red brick ridge stacks. Roughcast walls. Flat-topped attic dormers. Gabled dormers to first floor with weather-boarded gables. Casement windows with mullions and glazing bars. Ground floor splayed bay windows. Recessed entrances, Nos 357 and 359 with arched openings; doors altered. Included for historical associations with Ebenezer Howard.
