Details

BELL STREET 1. 5253 (South Side) No 26 TL 4828 1483:3/33 II GV 2. Probably c.1700 or earlier. Roof raised and refronted early C19. Door and Gd floor windows late C19. Tall stucco fronted house of 2 storeys, attics and cellar. E gable in brick colourwashed. W gable part plastered. Low pitched front slope to roof slated with two rounded topped dormers, broad eaves overhang, moulded cornice gutter, panelled soffit. Internal gable chimneys. Steep rear slope of roof with old red tiles. Projecting wing to rear. Street front symmetrical with plain pilasters near the corners rising from a projecting plinth and with paired brackets at the top supporting the eaves. There are two more brackets wider spaced between the pilasters. The 2 dormers have flush sashes of 5/5 panes. The 3, 1st floor flush sash windows with moulded architraves have 10/10:6/6:10/10 panes. The Gd floor windows are paired with plate glass sashes. Each pair has a single raised surround with bracketed cill, attached column between the windows and a projecting moulded cornice carried on small scrolled brackets. Recessed 6 panel central door with raised surround and flat moulded hood carried on large scrolled brackets. Panelled room on Gd floor front E.
