KNIGHT STREET 1. 5253 (West Side) Nos 14, 16 and 18 TL 4839 1496:3/49 6.6.52 II GV 2. Later C16 and early C18. No. 16, 2-bay house of late C16. No. 18 part of it. No 14 early C18 (RCHM Typescript). Timberframed and plastered with steep old red tile gable roofs. 2 storeys and attics. No 14 has an internal gable chimney on the S, 2 light C19 casement in N gable lighting the attic, moulded eaves cornice, 2 early C18 flush box sash windows to 1st floor with 6/6 panes and thick glazing bars. Similar window to N of door on Gd floor. Flat hood to door on shaped brackets. Single storey rear wing plastered, with old red tile roof. No 16 has large gable to front, a large projecting C19 plastered oriel on the 1st floor and a 3-light square bay window of lesser projection below it. Sash windows. 1 early C19 sash with glazing bars to attic. 4 light and 1 on returns later C19 sashes to 1st floor oriel. Similar to 3 light bay on Gd floor. Door with bracketed hood below oriel on S. No 18 has large gabled box dormer with early C19 sash. 2 windows to each floor. Sashes with glazing bars. Door up 3 steps. Moulded flat hood on shaped brackets. Low plinth to front. Important in street views from N.
