REDRICKS LANE 1. 5253 (South Side) Redericks Farm house TL 462 128:6/26 II GV 2. C17 or earlier, late C19 front wing. 2 storey timber frame plastered house under steep old tiled gabled roof. Front wing 2 storey brick rendered under hipped slate roof. Front faces N with cross wing at E end. W part of front obscured by later front wing. Main range has low 1st floor windows suggesting that it is possibly C16 or earlier with C17 floor and chimney stack inserted in hall. A massive chimney with stumpy diagonal shafts rises through rear slope of roof near middle of range. External gable chimney at W. Front of cross wing has Gd floor shallow pentice roof continuing eaves of main range to W. 2 windows to each floor. 3 light wood mullioned windows with rectangular leaded panes and iron casement. Door in corner with C19 wing. Late C18, 4 panelled door with moulded upper panels. Pilastered wooden surround supporting moulded flat hood. W and S walls plastered with paired late C19 sash windows and modern 3 light wooden casements. Late C19 (not on OS 25" 1879 map) front wing. Symmetrical 2 storey 3 windows N front. Gable chimneys. Central round arched doorway with keystone and brick pilasters. Recessed 4 panel door with fanlight. Single 2/2 paned sash window over door. 3 light sash windows each side on both floors with 1/1:2/2:1/1 panes. Single storey C18 timberframed gabled rear storage wing on S. Weatherboarded and pantiled. At its S end, a small square early C19 timberframed weatherboarded privy with pyramid slate roof. Some scalloped slating, metal ridges and square finial. E side symmetrical with 4 panel flush beaded door flanked by small window under the eaves. An interesting farmhouse complex showing adaptation and addition from C16 to C20.
