MARKYATE ALBERT STREET TL 0616 (Vest end) 8/141 No. 8 - (The Old Brewers Yard) - II
Brewery house of former Golden Lion Brewery, now a private house. Circa 1820. Plum brick with lighter red arches and stucco plinth and dressings. Hipped slate roof with plastered soffit to eaves overhang. A symmetrical double-pile, double-fronted house facing S, with chimneys on mid-wall. 2-storeys, 3 windows wide with central entrance. High stucco plinth, plat-band, paired brackets to eaves soffit, V-jointed rusticated toothed quoins. Tall recessed sash windows with 8/8 panes and plastered reveals. Plat-band stucco only at front where it lines with the blocking course of the entablature of the stucco Doric doorcase with 3/4 columns. 6-panel door, flush-beaded bottom panels and moulded above. Rectangular fanlight. 2 stone steps. 2-windows wide garden front on W with French windows. Lower brick outhouse with stucco quoins set back at NE. (Coote (1977)15).
