Secondary School. 1950-51. Yorke, Rosenberg and Mardall. Brick, stone rubble, glass bricks, precast concrete panels, reinforced concrete. Flat roof. One and two storeys. Plan roughly 'H' shaped. Extensively glazed with horizontal strip widows; metal frames. Entrance has curved wall, supporting a pergola over the entrance. Angular concrete staircases at intervals externally. Fine, spacious entrance hall with ironstone paving, two staircases and glass brick wall; also abstract mural by Kenneth Rowntree. This was the first co- educational school in Hertfordshire. It was awarded the RIBA Bronze Medal.
