5/297 Garage, barn and granary about 10 metres south of Home Farmhouse 20.10.52 (formerly listed as Stone outbuilding at Home Farm)
GV II
Barn, cow house and probably stables, now garage, barn and granary. Mid-C17 with mid-C18 extension and some mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Sandstone ashlar, with machine tile and old tile roof. T-plan, stem extending to south with earliest part at south (C17). West front: cross-wing to left has a stone coped verge and is of two storeys, remainder to right also two storeys; the earliest part to the right is quoined in a lighter coloured sandstone, straight jointed to later part; gabled wing to left has a loft door over two 2-light case- ments flanking a garage door; next part is barn with a central large door; C17 part to right has two loft doors, ground floor has two entrances which have 4- centred heads with keystones and impost blocks, each flanked by two oval windows; centrally placed a tablet with a much eroded armorial bearing, reported to be that of the Herbert family. Home Farmhouse is not included in this list. (VCH 4, p 297 - 298; BoE p 250).
