ALDBURY STOCKS ROAD SP 9612 (West side) 12/19 Nos. 31 (Cobwebs), 30.11.66 33 (Folly Cottage), and 35 (Rose Cottage) (formerly listed as No 35/37) GV II
House, now 3 houses. C16 open hall house, floor and chimney inserted in C17, later C18 entrance changed to upper (N) end of hall, made 3 houses in later C20. Timber frame on brick sill with exposed wide-spaced studs and posts on both floors, infilled with white painted brickwork. Steep old red tile roofs. l½-storeys, 3-bays, house facing E with a long 2-storeys, 4-bays, gabled S crosswing. Wide structural crosspassage in narrow bay in S end of hall range narrowed by 2 fireplaces inserted leaving a narrow space between. 2-light window in former door position with small 2-light window over. Gabled dormers at eaves over hall and N parlour bays. C18 leaded 3-light window with iron casement to hall with plank door to RH. Rectangular projecting bay window with small panes to parlour with added external N gable chimney to serve parlour fireplace. Flush casement windows with leaded glazing. One 2-light leaded casement to each floor of gable of S wing, set off-centre to N. S side of wing has 4 casement windows to first floor and 2 plank doors. Framing of E gable has jowled posts a cambered tie-beam and collar with clasped-purlins and square framing. Hall range has clasped purlin roof with large wind braces. (RCHM Typescript).
