Farmhouse, now a private house and implement shed attached at N. House
C16, S bay early C19. Implement shed early C19, timber frame on brick
sill with dark weatherboarding and steep old red tile roof. 8-bays long
with 4 open to W side. Unjowled posts and straight braces to tie beams
of clasped-purlin collar-and-queen-strut single purlin roof. House has
timber frame on painted brick sill, ground floor cased in painted brick,
1st floor has painted brick infill to exposed frame. Gabled brick E
front to S bay. Steep old red tiled roof. 2 storeys hall and
cross-passage plan with large unheated N room beyond cross-passage, and
internal chimney and stair position in same narrow central bay as
cross-passage. W side has irregular fenestration with 5 flush
small-paned windows to each floor. Frame defines 2 wide bays with a
narrow chimney and entrance bay between 2-light casement windows
generally but 2 Yorkshire sliding casements. E side similar but 2 upper
windows and 3 ground floor and front door. Jowled posts to a
clasped-purlin collar truss roof. No indication of original purpose of N
room (RCHM Typescript).
