Details
TIDENHAM LANCAUT ST 59 NW 9/239 Lancaut Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. C17 with substantial C18 modification. Rendered, slate roof to gable stack, right, and large ridge stack with 3 diagonally-set flues off-centre to left of lobby entrance. A long narrow building lying across the slope of the land and considerably modified within. East front is two storeys, 4-windowed, all good replacement 12-pane sashes to stone cills, but ground floor, left a pair of C20 glazed doors. In bay 2, pair of 2-panel doors under 4-pane transom light. Gable, left in 3½ storeys and basement, 2-light casements in arched openings. Back elevation in two storeys, with narrow projecting gabled unit, far right, various windows, but including off-centre, right at ground floor a 3-light ovolo-mould wood casement with vertical iron bars and one old shutter, and another small square open- ing with old leading. The upper gable formerly had an entrance at first floor level, to a stone staircase, now blocked. Interior has good C17 cupboard front to deep niche in kitchen, and one bedroom has cupboard with 2-panel fielded door and some surrounding contemporary panelling. Some stone flooring to a cupboard at the first floor level, above the lobby entrance area. The roof structure was not inspected. An isolated farmhouse with a complex growth history.
