4/52 Barn and attached cow shelter about 30 yards north-west of the Vauld Farmhouse
GV II
Barn and cow shelter. Probably late C17 to C18 and mid-C19. Barn: timber- frame, weatherboards, corrugated iron cladding and roof. Three bays aligned north-west/south-west. Opposed central full-height entrances to threshing floor, with surviving ledged doors to north-west. Frame is three panels high from cill beam to wall-plate. Interior: plank posts to threshing floor support ties with raking struts; gables have three queen posts to collars above which are V-struts. Open wattle-and-plank infill to north- east towards adjoining cow shelter (mid-C19): rubble rear and north-east end wall, pantiled roof, two posts to open front. Interior: wooden trough across rear wall, iron rods in king post positions. Faces the main front of The Vauld Farmhouse (qv) and important enclosing feature in the farmyard.
