6/196 The Golden Post (formerly listed as The Builth) - 26.1.67 GV II

House. Possibly C17 or earlier in origins, much altered and remodelled in late C20. Timber-framed with painted plaster infill panels and tiled C18-looking roof hipped to right hand return; rubble end stack to south. Presumably once a hall and cross-wing type with cross-wing at north end (implied by hipped return and arched brace effect to north end bay). Two storeys, three windows, unsympathetic C20 3-light casements plus a large ground floor bow to right; large gabled porch to left of centre; The frame has been much patched but is basically four panels from cill to wall-plate. [In spite of the alterations, this is a house of some antiquity which retains sufficient interest to warrant inclusion on this list.]
