Details

MADRESFIELD CP - SO 84 NW 6/74 North Lodge - II Lodge to Madresfield Court (qv). 1872 by Norman Shaw. Brick with applied timber-framing and tile roof. Two storeys. West gable wall, facing road, has canted timber window of five lights with transom on ground floor, below a bracketed jetty. The first floor window is of eight lights with timber mullions and geometric glazing. Below is a row of framed panels with ogee bracing. Above, an embattled tie-beam is jettied forwards and supports a fishbone king-post, partly hidden by bargeboards. At the apex of the gable is a finial with weathervane. A tall star-plan chimney rises from the centre of the roof. The south wall, facing the drive, has two 2-light stone mullioned windows towards the right. Above is a gable with applied timbering and a 6- light timber mullioned window. To the left is a gabled porch. To the left it has turned balusters on a brick base. To the right are stone steps and a timber corner post. The porch covers a 3-light timber mullioned window and a moulded doorway with Tudor arch. The porch gable has an iron finial. The roofs have pierced ridge tiles.
