3/129 Outbuilding about 35 yards south-west of Wichenford Court
GV II
Outbuilding, now visitors' centre, and carriage house. C17, with C19 additions and mid-C20 alterations. Part timber-framed, brick infill, part brick, tiled roofs. L-plan; timber-framed range of 2 framed bays on west- east axis with 2 bay brick cross-wing at east gable end. Single storey and attic. Timber-framed part has 4 square panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight braces in lower corners and queen strut truss in gable end. Main south elevation: timber-framed part has a multi-paned C20 door, and small loft door adjacent to brick wing, cross-wing gable end has a ground floor casement and attic light: Double doors for carriage access in east side elevation. Interior: Timber-framed part is floored and roof has single, trenched purlins and an interrupted tie-beam truss. C19 part has gallery at south end; the balustrade of which formed part of the old C17 staircase from the Court (qv).
