Details

BRILLEY CP - SO 24 NE 5/16 Pentre-coed GV II Farmhouse. C17, altered mid-C19. Timber-framed with painted brick and rendered infill on rubble base, partly weatherboarded with some ashlar and rubble refacing and replacement walling. Stone tiled roofs laid in diminishing courses and machine tiled roofs with brick stack at centre and east of main ridge. T-plan; main angle of four framed bays aligned east/ west with central chimney forming probable lobby entrance. Central north wing of two framed bays with large external rubble chimney on west side. Part two storeys, part single storey and attic with dormers. Framing: three rows of panels from sill to wall-plate (one row of panels remains at eaves level in front elevation); collar and tie-beam trusses with struts. South front elevation: ground floor has two 2-light casements with plank weatherings and a 3-light casement. Above is a 2-light window, a 6-pane window and a gabled dormer with a 3-light casement. Central entrance has a C19 gabled brick porch and a C20 door. Also ledged and battened door in west bay. Lean-to outshut in rear east angle. There was originally a timber-framed outbuilding at the east end, now fallen into ruin. (RCHM, III, P 24, item 9).
