Details
LAYSTERS CP SO 56 SE 8/32 Cinders 11.6.59 II Farmhouse. C14, heightened in the C16, north wing added during C17, further additions and alterations of late C19. Sandstone rubble with timber-framed north wing; brick infill, tiled roofs. Rectangular plan aligned east/west with rear wing extending to north and further later additions to west. Lateral stacks, central entrance to south front. Two storeys and attics. Two gabled dormers with 2-light casement windows, one 2-light window and one 3-light window with segmental head to first floor, one 4-pane window and one 3-light window to left with forward pro- jecting hipped addition with bow window to right of C14 doorway; two- centred arched head, sunken chamfered jambs, to the right of the later projection is a blocked C14 trefoil headed light, probably resited. To the rear is a blocked square headed light, the lateral stack to the left (east) has a pair of decorative shafts. Interior: late C16 or early C17 staircase with splat balusters, plain rails and chamfered newels with moulded terminals. (RCHM, Vol 3, p 103).
