Details
EARDISLEY CP CHURCH ROAD (west side) SO 3049 - 3149 7/61 No 13 (Hartham Cottage) and Post Office (formerly listed 16.10.67 as Post Office and cottage adjoining Post Office) GV II Shown on OS map as Hawthorn Cottage and post office. Row of two houses, one used as post office. Probably mid-C18, altered and extended mid-C19 and mid-C20. Part timber-framed with painted brick infill, on painted rubble base, part painted rubble with stone-tiled roofs laid in diminishing courses. Brick stack at south end of ridge of Post Office. Two plus two bays aligned north/south. No 13 had an external painted rubble chimney with a brick stack at its south end, Single storey and attic with dormers. (Post Office is lower in hight). Framing: No 13 has two plus one row of panels from sill to wall-plate with short straight braces across the upper corners at the front. East front elevation: No 13 has C20 casements. Two ground floor windows with plank weatherings and two gabled dormers with 2- light windows. Central entrance has a C20 lean-to timber porch with a glazed door and right side light. The Post Office has C19 casements; two ground floor 3-light windows, two gabled dormers with 2-light windows and a central entrance with a lean-to canopy on shaped brackets and a C20 door. Attic light in north gable end. C20 single-storey extension to rear of No 13.
