Details

HUMBER CP SO 55 SW 5/81 Lowbrook GV II House. C17, with mid-C19 and late C20 alterations. Part painted sand- stone rubble, part timber-framed with roughcast infill and machine-tiled roof. Three framed bays aligned north-east/south-west; large external rubble chimney with brick stack to north-west elevation and at north-east end. Two storeys. Framing: three rows of square panels at first floor level; tie-beam trusses with two main struts and lower raking struts at gable ends (roof structure probably altered in C19). South-east front elevation: plank weatherings to all horizontal timbers and first floor windows. Windows are all 2-light C19 casements. Central entrance has a C19 gabled timber porch with trellis infill, a C20 door and a transom light with two glazing bars. A brick and rubble wing adjoins the left side. This is part of an original outbuilding converted in the late C20 to form part of the house. Two bays. Single storey and attic. There is a 2-light and a single-light C20 casement and two doors in the front elevation. (RCHM, Herefs, III, p 74, item 5).
