13/57 Croase House and Little Croase (formerly listed as a part of 11.6.59 Croase House and Barn attached)
GV II
House, now two houses. Early C18, raised and extended early C19, with some late C20 alterations. Brick with hipped slate roof. L-plan, with limbs extending to north and east. South front of two storeys, raised to right in C19 to three storeys, band to ground floor. Seven windows, from left to right, a 2-light casement, a blind window, the same pair repeated, then recessed boxed glazing bar sash and another blind window, all of which have rubbed brick heads and their surrounds are picked out in a different coloured brick to the main wall. To right-hand end a two-storey canted bay window with a hipped lead roof and a 2-light casement to front. The second storey has boarded eaves and two glazing bar sashes. Ground floor has a C20 single-storey extension to left, and a small single-storey service range to right. The five windows are a 4-light casement under a narrower rubbed brick head, a blind window, a 2-light casement, a tripartite sash under a segmental head and a blind window. To the right of the last is the entrance which has a wooden doorcase with fluted pilasters, consoles to broken pedi- ment over semi-elliptical fanlight and a six-panel door. Interior: the staircase has turned balusters and moulded rail. (RCHM, 3, p 83, no 12).
