10/87 Forsythia and West Leigh

GV II

House, now sub-divided into two tenements, formerly central hall with cross- wings. C14 or C15 core, altered during C17 and further greatly altered during mid-C19. Square panelled timber-framing with painted brick infill/and sand- stone rubble plinth; hipped Welsh slate roof. Former hall aligned east/west flarked by cross-wings; the whole has now been re-roofed with the gables of the cross-wings cut back and the whole roof now hipped; lateral and axial stacks. Two storeys. South front: one 3-light casement window to jettied left cross-wing with 2-light window and four-panelled door to ground floor, central hall with 2-light casement window and panelled door to ground floor. Former cross-wing to right has canted bay window and ledged door. The right- hand cross-wing has traces of a moulded bressummer, but the jetty has been underbuilt. (RCHM, Vol III, p 165, item 78).
