ALMELEY CP LOGASTON COMMON SO 35 SW 1/28 Logaston Common Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Probably C17 with later alterations. Timber-frame with plaster and brick infill, partly brick-cased or under-pinned. Welsh slate roof with sandstone rubble and brick stacks. T-plan, three by three bays. Cross-wing at west end of main east/west range. One storey and attic. South elevation has 1:2 windows, early C20 casements with gable front to left. Gable has 3-light casements and main range 2-light casements, those to first floor under a gablet; those to ground floor have cambered heads. Gable is timber-framed; main range is brick. Entry to right hand-side of gable front has carved head in front of recessed ledged door. Attached to left of gable front is a sandstone stack. Rear elevation has exposed framing, bread oven and large sand- stone side stack. Frame is three panels high from cill to wall-plate. Interior has heavy chamfered ceiling beams, ledged C17 doors and interrupted tie-beam trusses. Gable trusses have three posts from ties to collars above which are raking struts.
