GV II Chancel of parish church, now house. C13 to C14 with C17 and later alter- ations. Sandstone rubble and sandstone dressings with stone slate roof. Rectangular plan. West elevation has re-set and restored late C13 or early C14 lancet placed high in gable. Verge rises to later C19 gabled bellcot with cusped opening and gable cross. Late C20 weatherboarded porch masks C19 two-centred doorway with two-leaved ledged oak door. North elevation has one lancet to left of centre. Weathered buttress to right. Small C19 sandstone stack to left of verge. East elevation has a pair of tall restored lancets. South elevation has a 2-light window to the right-hand side. Each light is trefoil-headed and above is lozenge-shaped tracery. To left-hand side is a chamfered lancet. To the right of the lancet is a projecting weathered area of walling corresponding to a tomb recess. Weathered buttress to left-hand corner. Interior has piscina with quatrefoil drain and a water- spout. In the south wall is a tomb recess, probably C14 with two-centred arch decorated with fleurons. In the south-east window are two zones of stained glass perhaps C17, one with three sheaves against a blue ground. Three triple angle strut trusses with cambered ties, probably C17. Some panelling, possibly late C17, with fluted margins. The nave of the church was demolished and the present west wall erected in 1873. (BoE, p 88; RCHM, Vol III, p 26-7).
