Details
HANBURY CP SCHOOL ROAD (north side) SO 96 SW 3/123 Lodge at main entrance to Hanbury Hall GV II Lodge to Hanbury Hall. Late C18. Brick with ashlar dressings; hipped slate roof with broad eaves and central chimney surmounted by three octagonal shafts. Rectangular lobby-entry plan. Two storeys with moulded eaves cornice. South- west front elevation: three bays; chamfered stone quoins at ends; windows have moulded stone architraves, sills and keyblocks, and are single-hung sashes, 8-pane on ground floor and 6-pane on first floor; central entrance also has moulded stone architraves and keyblock and a door with six raised and fielded panels. There is a similar door in the right side elevation and a ground- floor window in the left side elevation. Interior not inspected. A probable detached kitchen at the rear is now linked to the lodge by a glazed lean-to addition. (Country Life, xxxix, p 502; CXLiii, p 18 & 16; Gardens X, p 368).
