Details

HANBURY CP PUMPHOUSE LANE (south side) SO 96 SE 4/110 White House Cottage - II

House. Early C18 with late C19 and early C20 alterations. Mainly handmade brick, plain tiled roof with parapet and kneelers at gable ends. Three-bay range aligned east/west, with two large external brick chimneys with offsets to central and right bays of north front elevation. Single storey, attic with dormers and cellar at eaat end; chamfered brick plinth and 2-course band between storeys. Windows are all casements with cambered heads and blue brick sills. Front elevation: irregular arrangement; ground floor has two 3-light windows, a rectangular light and a small square window at the base of the left chimney; between the chimneys is a gabled dormer with a 2-light window. Main entrance in rear C20 wing adjoining central bay. Also C20 single-storey extension at west gable end. Front wall has six "S"-shaped tie rod ends. A compact early C18 brick house with two large external chimneys; it once formed part of the Vernon Estate.
