TIBBERTON CP CHURCH LANE (east side) SO 95 NW 6/202 Gordon's Cottage GV II

House. C16 with late C19 alterations; restored mid-C20. Timber-framed with rendered and painted brick infill, brick replacement walling and additions, plain tiled roofs. Two framed bays aligned north/south with rebuilt C20 external chimney at south gable end and C19 single-bay addition at north gable end. Part single storey and attic with dormers; part two storeys. Framing: two and three panels from sill to wall-plate; short straight braces in upper corners; south gable end rebuilt. East front elevation: original part has four ground-floor 2-light casements and a gabled C20 dormer with a 2-light casement; two windows are inserted in former blocked doorways. Brick addition to right has a ground- and first- floor 2-light casement, the ground-floor window has a cambered head. Main entrance at north gable end through a C20 addition. Interior: roof has an intermediate collar and tie-beam truss; purlins have been replaced. The building is prominently situated and forms a group with Gordon's Farmhouse (qv) and the Church of St Peter Ad Vincula (qv).
