Details
SOBERTON SU 61 SW 10/3 Ingoldfield Farmhouse 19.2.82 II House. Late medieval timber-framed hall with a three bay timber-framed crosswing, with inserted fireplaces and upper floors of the C16, C17/C18 rear outshot and cladding, and C20 restoration. Walls of brickwork in English bond, plinth: some Flemish Garden Wall bond, the frame partly-exposed in the east gable. Tile roof, catslide at rear, hipped at the west end and brought to a low eaves above an outshot. South front elevation of two storeys three windows. Casements. C20 porch of early C19 style, with a moulded canopy on slender columns, cambered arch, and 6-panelled (2 top glazed) door. Inside, the frame is exposed, also a massive two-sided fireplace in the crosswing and a single-side fireplace attached to the outside of the frame (now enclosed within the catslide roof), with brick fireplaces on both floors of Tudor form.
