Details
The following building shall be added to the list: SU 62 SW MEONSTOKE HIGH STREET (east side) 4/40 Little Stocks Farm and Kings Farm GV II House, now 2. Early C18 with C19 and C20 additions and alterations. Red brick with some blue headers in Flemish bond variant (3 stretchers to 1 header); right return tile hung. 2 storeys with attic and cellar. 4-bay central lobby-entry plan with rear outshut and C20 rear additions. Roadside elevation: tall plinth, stepped on right. Brick steps below blocked central doorway with later 3-pane window. Two 3-light windows to right on each floor; on left, windows of 4 and 3 lights to ground floor, 2 and 3 lights above; windows all small-pane wooden casements. On ground floor, left-hand window has concrete lintel, the other openings segmental brick arches with decoratively-used blue headers. Hipped roof with large central stack, rebuilt c.1980, and external end stacks with offsets, that on left C19, that on right C18 with top rebuilt c.1980. On right, angle with stack infilled by lean-to having board door with old hinges and c.1980 weather-boarding to gable. Rear: roof comes down low over outshut. Mid-C20 lean-to on right and c.1980 tall addition on left are not of special interest. Left return: on left of stack an inserted door (to Little Stocks Farm) with bracketed pitched hood, and a small segmental header-brick arched window to its right; mid-C20 single-storey addition on left of stack, not of special interest, has small 6-pane casement above. Right return on right of stack board door (to Kings Farm) in pent porch with c.1960 window to right and above. Interior: old board doors with strap-hinges and H-hinges. Central stack has back-to-back fireplaces, that in King Farm being large, elliptical-arched, with inner corners curved and bread-oven on right (opening onto outshut); similar smaller fireplace in right-hand room, the partition walls between right-hand rooms taken down and now partly rebuilt (1980s). At division between left-hand bays is a chamfered cross-beam with lambs tongue stop. Kings Farm has cellar with brick steps and floor and arched wall recesses; also, in outshut, a fine dog-leg stair with closed-string, turned balusters, square newel posts the lowermost one with ball finial, and moulded handrail. On 1st floor right-hand room has C19 iron grate in C18 corniced wooden archi- trave. Roof has collared principal rafter roof trusses, staggered butt purlins, and old bridle-jointed rafters (no ridge piece).
