Details
WORLDHAM WEST WORLDHAM SU 73 NW 1/10 Pullens.
GV II
House. C16, C17, c1900, with C20 restoration and extensions. Timber framed, walls mostly of red brickwork in English bond, showing a filled upper window with a chamfered brick surround, with some lower parts of malmstone ashlar with brick quoins, high brick plinth band. Tiled roof hipped at the south end, with a stepped stack at the north end, and a shafted central stack. Late-medieval timber-framed hall of 3 bays with a smoke bay, extended in the C17 by another bay at the north end; front (east) of 2 storeys, 4 windows. Victorian coupled sashes, the upper windows rising above the eaves, with moulded cornices: French door (1905) at the north side. Plain doorway, with 6 panelled (a top glazed) door, and a canopy on posts. Above the door is a stone plaque inscribed 1652. The rear elevation shows a catslide, but most of the wall has been raised to form upper rooms beneath two half-hipped gables. Inside, part of the original frame is exposed, as well as the C17 fireplace stack, inserted into the smoke bay. The north room has 2 C18 arched cupboards in recesses.
