LAVENHAM HIGH STREET 1. 5377 (east side) Nos 87 and 88 (Hall House) TL 9149 50/580 23.1.58 II GV 2 A timber-framed and plastered building with a C14 single aisled hall block with the roof raised at the front (the aisle is at the rear) and a C16 cross wing at the north end jettied on the upper storey on curved brackets and with the timber-framing exposed. Roof tiled. At one time it was an inn called the Pig and Whistle and remained such until the mid C19. C18 fenestration. Renovated. Two storeys. Four window range of leaded casements. A modern garage door at the south end. The hall block has a wood modillion eaves cornice. The interior has good C16 moulded ceiling beams and joists.
