5/92 Stables and carriage house approximately 30 metres west of Stutton House
GV II
Stables and carriage house. Probably circa 1822 for Rev Thomas Mills when he altered Stutton House, qv 5/91. Red brick, red plain tiled gambrel roof. Dutch gables to east and west, that to west with chimneystack to apex, weathervane with tracery and letter M to east gable. 2 storeys and attics. The south face with 3 flat-headed dormers is jettied to first floor with 5 carved brackets, 4 pivot windows and central stable door. East gable has a vertically boarded loft door with hipped porch over, ornate cast iron spiral staircase. Ground floor 3-light window with transom. North face has an outshot single storey timber-framed extension with vertically boarded walls, carved brackets to front tie-beam and recessed folding carriage doors. Included for group value.
