CHURCH LANE 1. 5377 Stoke-by-Nayland Almshouses TL 9836 24/818 II GV

2. A range of late C19 red brick almshouses standing some 60 yds to the north-east of the Church of St Mary. Built on an L shaped plan with wings extending to the west and south. The west wing projects slightly in the centre with a gable and a stone panel with the date 1875. 1 storey. The west wing has 2:2:2 window range and the south wing has 2 window range, 3-light casements with stone dressings. Roof tiled, with 4 Tudor style chimney stacks with 2 diagonal shafts. The gables have ornamental bargeboards. Included for group value.
