STUSTON THE COMMON (EAST SIDE) TM 17 NW 2/95 - Hall Farm Cottage

House. Late C17 or early C18. Timber frame, roughcast. Steeply pitched pantiled roof. 2 cells. 1 storey and attic. Entrance to right of centre with a boarded door. 1 and 2-light C19 glazing bar timber and metal frame casement windows, some slightly recessed. Plinth. Right end internal red brick stack. Gable end pentice boards, attic lights. Left end exposed plates and purlins, C20 external stack. To rear some C20 brick facing and a C20 flat roofed outshut. Interior: stop chamfered axial and cross axial binding beams, jowled posts, cambered tie beams. Remains of moating around this building mark site of late medieval Stuston Hall, demolished c.1780, which this must have served as an outbuilding.
