2/23 Red House Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse. Late C18 front block with C16 work in service wing to rear. Front block. Red brick; pantiled roof, with glazed black tiles to the front. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay facade, the centre bay set slightly forward. Original 3-light casements with mid C20 glass replacing leaded panes; flat gauged brick arches. Original doorcase: reeded pilasters and entablature with triangular pediment; panelled reveals. Late C19 4-panel door, the upper panels with decorative glazing. Gable stacks. Late C19 lean-to conservatory on left gable end. Rear. Timber framed and plastered, pantiled roof. 2 storeys. Various casement windows, one with old square-leaded glass. Interior. Section adjacent to front block has 2-bay ceiling with heavy closely-spaced chamfered joists and a bridging beam with broach stop-chamfers. 2 further bays of plain joists beyond. 2 cambered tie beams. Roof of later date. Interior not fully examined.
