Details
GODALMING HIGH STREET SU 9743 NW (south side) 13/103 No 1 GV II
House, now commercial premises. Late C18 or early C19, altered C19 and C20. Brick in Flemish bond, painted; Welsh slate roof. 3 storeys, 2 bays. Late C19 shop front has panelled side pilasters below large brackets which flank corniced, cyma-moulded fascia supported by two, slender cast-iron columns with octagonal bases, annulets and Ionic capitals. C20 shop windows and door are recessed and in front of them is tessellated pavement. Above shop front in centre is fire insurance plaque. On each upper floor are two sashes with projecting sills and flat brick arches. Parapet masks hipped roof with end stacks (right one incorporated into that of neighbouring property). Added rear wing not of special interest. Included for group value.
