1. 1578 CHURCH SQUARE (South Side)

No 26 TQ 9220 1/11 12.10.51.

2. A timber-framed house with hipped gable and 1st floor slightly overhanging on the projecting ends of the floor joists. C16 or earlier. 3 storeys. 1 window. Some of the posts in the lower storeys are original with mortices for former brackets. The lintel over the ground floor window has quatrefoil carving. Modern casement windows. Curved braces on each side of 1st floor window. VCH says that the house (old No 25) has open timbered ceilings and C16 fireplaces.

Nos 20 to 46 (even) and No 33 form a group with Nos 27 to 30 (consec) Watchbell Street.
