Details
WITHYHAM GROOMBRIDGE 1. 5208 Glen Andred TQ 53 NW 6/165 18.4.73 II* 2. Built in 1866-7 for E W Cooke. Architect Norman Shaw. Two storeys. Ground floor red brick, above tile-hung. Tiled roof. Entrance front is symmetrical in massing but unsymmetrical in details. Five gables, the three centre ones with pargetting, the side ones tile-hung. Central two storeyed porch with Gothic doorway and flat wooden oriel above. Under the left flanking windows is a large mullioned and transomed window, under the right one mullioned and transomed windows on both floors. On extreme left oriel window on first floor. The garden front is more raised and has a tile-hung upper floor. Tile-hung gable to left with dormer window to right. Large chimney stack in centre with oriel window to right. Canted bay window of two storeys at left corner. This has hopped roof with metal finial. Gable to right of it.
