HIGH STREET 1. 1594 (East Side) No 37 (Mitre Comer) SU 1429 NW 3/84 28.2.52. II GV 2. Corner site with New Street qv. C16, altered C18 and later. 3 storey and attic. Timber frame part plastered pint tile humg, and colourwashed brick. Old tile roof with gable end to High Street, and oversailing 2nd floor on long brackets to New Street. Small attic window in gable, with 2 windows to upper floors and plain modern shop front on ground floor. No glazing bars in windows. New Street front has 3 windows on 2nd floor, 4 on lst floor at irregular heights. On ground floor to right plain Cl9 shop front with moulded frame and cornice, one 6-Panel and one 4 panel door with doorcases of pilasters and small cornice. Traditionally on site of house built by Bishop Richard Poore to be near Cathedral while building. Picturesque.
Nos 37 to 51 (odd) form a group with Nos 50 to 58 (even) & No 64.
No 37 also forms a group with Nos 67 to 75 (odd) New Street.
