Details
SADDLEWORTH PLATT LANE SD 90 NE (south-west side) 3/233 No. 43 - G.V. II House and adjoining barn which is now incorporated into the house. "TS ES 1726" (Thomas and Elizabeth Shaw) on door lintel. Coursed squared rubble with slate roof. 2-unit plan with 2 storeys, lean-to against rear and barn to left. Quoins. Door to left with chamfered dressed surround and C20 door and porch to right. 1, 2, 4 and 3-light double- chamfered cavetto-moulded mullion windows to ground floor (the latter with mullions removed). 2, 5 and 4-light first floor windows, similar but the central window's mullions have been replaced by flat-faced ones. The barn is of a slightly earlier date and has a cart entry with stone lintel, a chamfered shippon door to right, outshut to left and C20 windows inserted to the first floor. Rear has a blocked barn door, a total of four 2-light windows and a blocked taking-in door.
