Details
SADDLEWORTH THE SQUARE SD 9906 (north-east side) Dobcross 9/322 The Swan Inn 19/6/67 G.V. II Public House. "BW SW 1765" (Benjamin Wrigley) on recent datestone. Hammer-dressed watershot stone with graduated stone slate roof. Double-range plan of 2 bays and 2 storeys (plus basement). Quoins. 4-light basement window and 4-light window to each bay of each floor. All have recessed chamfered mullions most of which are C20 replacements. Gable chimney stacks. Gable has entrance with square-cut surround and datestone above, 2-light windows and an arched attic light. The rear range was added later, was itself built in 2 phases and projects to the left. It has quoins, C19 door and window openings and a 4-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion gable window.
