NZ 15 NW CONSETT B 6310
(South Lodge) 1/15 The Old Lodge at 12/12/80 Hamsterley Hall and wall attached GV II Lodge to Hamsterley Hall (q.v.). Early C20. Snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings and stone-flagged roof. Irregular plan. Art Nouveau style. One storey, 2 bays. Pent roof over door in stone surround at left and projecting stone-mullioned bay window at right; hipped dormer from this; wood corner post supports pentice over door. Hipped roof has tall cruciform ashlar corniced stack with taller central corniced shafts. Returns have pent roof continuing to form wide eaves over battered buttresses; yard wall at rear on right return contains segmental-headed gateway, and has moulded coping.
