SWINTON & PENDLEBURY WORSLEY ROAD SD 70 SE (south side) 2/19 Sindsley House 30/3/66 (formerly listed as Sindsley House (3 dwellings)) GV II

W House. "T M G1715W" on datestone but with alterations and additions of early C19. Flemish bond brick with graduated stone slate roof. Double-depth central-entrance plan with 3 bays and 2 storeys and additions to each side. Front, formerly symmetrical, has gabled C19 wing in bay 1 and a gabled C19 porch. The wing and the ground floor window of bay 3 are C19 3-light timber mullioned casements with stone sills and flat brick arches. The central first floor window and that in bay 3 are original, having mullion and transom casements with keystone arches, segmental in the former and flat in the later. The central bay is slightly advanced the ornate datestone being off-centre to the right. Large axial ridge chimney stacks. The left return has C19 canted bays on the ground floor but original 3 and 6-light mullion and transom casements on the upper floors.Later wing to rear left and additions to right. Interior: closed string staircase with pulvinated frieze has swept moulded handrail on turned balusters and newels with sunk panels.
