House. C16 or earlier timber framed building refaced in painted brick on the ground floor and plastered above, 2 storeys and attics with right side projecting half hipped gable through all floors. Gable has 1 C20 casement on all floors but 3 small 2-light wooden mullioned windows to 1st floor. Left side 6 fielded panelled door, the top 2 glazed and flat hood with brackets. Rear elevation has tile hung gable and C17 massive external yellow brick chimney-stack with top of red brick with 4 truncated circular flues. Interior has frame of good quality and inglenook fireplace. This house forms the western bay and cross wing of a house which originally also comprised No. 1 (see Rape of Hastings Architectural Survey No. 953). Shown on a drawing of 1633 by Sir Anthony Van Dyck.
