TQ 2781 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER GREAT CUMBERLAND PLACE, Wl 54/31 14.1.70 Nos. 57 to 63(odd) G.V. II Terraced town houses terminating with return to south side of Bryanston Square. c.1811-20, probably by J. Parkinson in association with his Bryanston Square development for the Portman Estate. Stock brick with banded rustication to stucco ground floor; concealed slate roof. 5 storeys and basements. 3-window wide fronts, No. 63 with 4 bay return (one blind) to Bryanston Square. Semicircular arched doorways to left, that of No. 63 in return to square; panelled doors with pilaster jambs, No. 57 with sidelights, No. 63 with Greek Doric columned jambs, under moulded doorheads and patterned fanlights. Recessed sashes, with stucco voussoirs on ground floor and under flat gauged arches to upper floors. Crowning stucco dentil cornice and blocking course. Original, cast iron, geometric patterned continuous balconies to 1st floor. Cast iron spearhead area railings with urn finials. Nos. 53 and 55 q.v. form part of the same terrace build.
