Details
TQ 3080 SW CITY OF WESTMINSTER HORSE GUARDS PARADE, 83/83 SW1 Cadiz Memorial G.V. II Memorial. 1814, cast by the Carriage Department, Royal Arsenal Woolwich but not signed. Cast iron and bronze. Remarkable exotic design comprising a genuine French mortar mounted on a dramatic Chinese dragon, set on a "rustic" cast pedestal with inscription panels and Prince of Wales feather. Set up to commemorate the lifting of the French siege of Cadiz following Wellington's victory at Salamanca.
