Details
CHURCH ROAD l. 4430 (East Side) BEDDINGTON Beddington Place (2 end wings) TQ 2965 SE 13/39 II GV 2. Later 1860s; Joseph Clarke. 2 long wings project westwards from north and south ends of the Great Hall. The west ends of the wings have been joined by a one-storey corridor. Exterior in a Gothic style similar to casing of Great Hall. Red brick with stone dressings and tile roofs. Castellated parapet, 2 storeys. Ornamental brick stacks in Tudor style. West end of each wing of 4 window bays with gables over 2 inner bays. These wings probably stand on the lines of the C16 house; that is, they approximate to the ground plan of Vitruvius Britannicus 1717 with the exception that they have been extensively rebuilt. Graded II on account of the group value of the whole building in relation to the Church and Churchyard, Dovecot, East Lodge [See preceding and following items listed under Church Road, Beddington].
Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Lychgates, Churchyard Walls and wall along Church Lane, 0rangery Wall, Beddington Place, gate and screen, Pigeon House, Nos 1 to 3 (consec) Beddington Park Cottages, premises occupied by Hockey Club and garden walls to north of Orangery and Beddington Place form a group.
