BATTERSEA CHURCH ROAD SW11 1. 5033 Church of St Mary and churchyard wall and gat TQ 2676 6/1 28.6.54 I 2. 1775-77 Joseph Discon. Brown brick with stone quoins and other dressings. Tetrastyle Doric pedimented porch. West tower with cyma-bracketed cornice supporting urn finials at the angles and octagonal wooden steeple. Windows recessed within gauged brick arches, segmental-headed at aisle level and round-arched at the gallery. Interior: Flat ceiling with cove above cornice. Gallery on 3 sides with panelled front cantilevered on shaped brackets above wooden Doric-type columns. East window 1631 of stained and enamelled glass attributed to Bernard van Linge, of exceptional quality, transferred in entirety from the older church. Red and brown brick retaining walls on riverside and ornamental wrought iron gates, one double and two single, to south and east of churchyard.
